Emma Chi, Registered psychologist

Hi there, my name is Emma Chi. I am a Registered Psychologist and provide psychological services to adults. I hold an MA in Counselling Psychology (Yorkville University) and a BA in Psychology (Concordia University of Edmonton). I’m a professional member of the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.

My practice is solutions-focused and integrative: I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), CBT for Insomnia (CBT‑I), Narrative Therapy, and psychodynamic approaches. I have CBT‑I training through Dr. Gregg Jacobs’s program and additional training in ACT, CBT, DBT, and SFT.

I work with insomnia, anxiety, depression, ADHD, work/life balance, relationship conflict, self‑esteem, stress management, life transitions, boundaries/communication — and I am qualified to prescribe Park Passes in Alberta.

Why You Might Want to Work With Me

I take a practical, goal-oriented approach that gives you a clear takeaway from every session. I’m warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative; I meet clients where they are and move at a pace that feels right for them. Clinically, I emphasize emotion regulation, mindfulness, and evidence-based coping skills tailored to your needs.

If you’re seeking measurable changes for issues like insomnia, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship or work stress, I would be happy to help you build sustainable strategies and reach your goals.

I offer standard psychological counselling sessions as well as structured CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia) sessions as well as a Self-Care

Assessment & Resource Package Session. You can read more about these sessions below.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a structured, evidence-based behavioural treatment specifically tailored to chronic insomnia. It targets the habits, thoughts, and physiological patterns that maintain poor sleep rather than just the symptoms. Sessions will include sleep assessment and education, behavioural interventions as well as relaxation strategies.

Self-Care Assessment & Resource Package Session

This session will contain a self-care assessment as well as some personalized self-care goal recommendations based on the assessment findings. After the session, you will be provided with a resource package including some personalized coping skills and helpful resources to get you started on the right track. This can be a one-time session, or the start of your therapeutic journey depending on your wants & needs.
